The Third Provincial Ecological and Environmental Protection Inspection Team held a mobilization meeting for its inspection of Wuhu City
To thoroughly implement Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization and the decisions and deployments of the Party Central Committee and the State Council on strengthening ecological and environmental protection, the Third Provincial Ecological and Environmental Protection Inspection Team, with the approval of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government, conducted a special inspection of Wuhu City to address prominent ecological and environmental issues. On August 21st, a mobilization meeting was held in Wuhu. Team leader Han Yongsheng and deputy team leader Jia Liangqing each delivered speeches on conducting inspections. Wuhu Municipal Party Committee Secretary Ningbo presided over the meeting and conducted mobilization meetings.
Han Yongsheng pointed out that the Central Ecological and Environmental Protection Inspection is a major institutional innovation and reform initiative personally planned, deployed, and promoted by General Secretary Xi Jinping. It is a practical and effective measure and institutional guarantee for implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization. The provincial ecological and environmental protection inspection is an extension and supplement to the central ecological and environmental protection inspection. We must further enhance our political awareness, thoroughly implement Xi Jinping's thoughts on ecological civilization and the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech during his inspection tour of Anhui Province, and truly align our thoughts and actions with the decisions and deployments of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, as well as the work requirements of the provincial party committee and provincial government. We must resolutely shoulder the political responsibility of ecological civilization construction and ecological and environmental protection, resolutely address issues, and conduct systematic, source-based investigations and rectifications based on past experiences. We must truly "clear out" all problems, accelerate the development of a comprehensive green transformation zone for economic and social development, and promote sustained improvement in ecological and environmental quality.
Han Yongsheng emphasized the importance of conducting inspections accurately, scientifically, and in accordance with the law, tightening and enforcing ecological and environmental protection responsibilities. The inspection will focus on the municipal party committee and municipal government's implementation of the "Party and government shared responsibility" and "one post, two responsibilities" policies for ecological and environmental protection; the deployment and promotion of rectification work for prominent ecological and environmental issues; the fulfillment of rectification responsibilities and progress of relevant municipal departments; the specific implementation of rectification work in counties (cities, districts) and development zones; the establishment and operation of a long-term mechanism for rectifying prominent ecological and environmental issues; and the implementation of rectification measures and the completion of targets and tasks related to issues reported by the third round of central ecological and environmental protection inspections, typical cases, and complaints from the public.
Ningbo stated that this ecological and environmental inspection is a "political checkup" and "centralized consultation" for Wuhu City's implementation of Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization and its fulfillment of ecological and environmental protection responsibilities. All departments at all levels in the city must deeply understand the significance of conducting ecological and environmental inspections, proactively and consciously accept supervision, and with concrete actions firmly uphold the "two establishments" and resolutely implement the "two safeguards." They must strengthen overall coordination, enforce strict discipline, and fully support and cooperate with the inspections. They must persist in taking concrete actions and thoroughly address the "second half" of the inspections, promoting thorough and effective rectification of prominent ecological and environmental issues and making greater contributions to the province's accelerated development of a comprehensive green transformation zone for economic and social development.
At the meeting, Jia Liangqing outlined requirements for enhancing understanding of the provincial inspection work, ensuring effective cooperation with inspections, implementing rectification measures during inspections, disclosing information, and reducing burdens on grassroots organizations. He also stated that all members of the inspection team must strictly adhere to disciplinary requirements and accept oversight from the inspected localities and society. Deputy Mayor Cao Xiaoming briefed the inspection team on the progress of Wuhu City's rectification of prominent ecological and environmental issues.
All members of the Provincial Third Ecological and Environmental Protection Inspection Team, relevant Wuhu municipal leaders, and others attended the meeting. Party and government leaders from all counties (cities, and districts) also participated via video conference.
According to work arrangements, the Provincial Third Ecological and Environmental Protection Inspection Team will be stationed in Wuhu for 20 days. During this period (August 21 to September 9, 2025), a dedicated hotline will be set up: 0553-3868336, a dedicated postal box: P.O. Box 0105, Wuhu City, Anhui Province, and a dedicated WeChat reporting platform: the "Wuhu Ecological Environment" WeChat official account's "Inspection Report" column. In accordance with the requirements of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government and the responsibilities of the inspection team, the Provincial Third Ecological and Environmental Protection Inspection Team will primarily accept reports on Wuhu's ecological and environmental protection issues, whether by phone, letter, or WeChat. Other reports outside of its scope will be referred to Wuhu City for handling in accordance with regulations.
